Mr Alexander Macdonald
Consultant Specialist Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon
Alex Macdonald qualified from Oxford University Medical School and undertook his paediatric surgical training in London at Great Ormond Street, Evelina London Children's, Chelsea and Westminster and King's College Hospitals before taking up his NHS Consultant post at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2020.
His sub-specialist training in paediatric colorectal surgery included the Royal College of Surgeons of England Senior Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Colorectal Surgery and the Advanced training programme in paediatric colorectal and pelvic reconstruction at Nationwide Children's Hospital, USA.
Alex is the current Honorary Secretary and a trustee of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS) and an Executive Committee member of the British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons (BAPES).
He is a keen advocate of minimally invasive surgery and undertakes all general surgery of childhood procedures including hernia repair, orchidopexy (surgery for undescended testes), hydrocele repair and circumcision.
At home Alex enjoys spending time with his two children.

Mr Macdonald performs a wide range of day case surgery including; hernia surgery, surgery for undescended testes, foreskin surgery, endoscopy and removal of lumps, bumps and skin lesions.

Clinic hours: Mon 10am-12pm, Tue 5:30pm-8pm, Thur-Fri 5:30pm-8pm
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the specialist centre for paediatric and neonatal surgery for North West London and has a 24/7 dedicated Children’s Emergency Department.
Private patients are seen in a children’s outpatient department and surgery takes place in one of five dedicated children’s operating theatres.

Clinic hours: Wed 6pm-8pm (and additional on request)
The Cromwell Hospital is an internationally renowned private hospital located in Kensington.
Skyline the dedicated Children and Young People’s department provides a comprehensive range of children’s services including outpatient clinics and daycase surgery.
